THE
CONSTRUCTION OF THE WORKSHOPS OF QUATRE MARES (from 1913 till 1919)
The first works, authorized by a
ministerial telegram of April 16th, 1913, are committed from August because
of the urgency of needs. The first tasks begin then with a clearing of the
ground and a drying out of puddles.....

ROLE AND DESCRIPTION OF
WORKSHOPS
The role attributed from 1920 to the workshops of
Quatre-Mares is mainly the repair of locomotives. 250 big repairs are planned
there annually. These workshops also have to assure the repair of numerous parts
of machines resulting from deposits and, in particular, from crews of
wheels....

OF STEAM ENGINES (from 1920 till 1938)

THE WAR
PERIOD (from 1939 till 1944)
As all the French people, the Sottevillais and the
Stéphanais are not going to believe in this war " without fight ", until the
enemy takes the offensive and invades their municipalities on June 13th, 1940,
precipitating them then into the hell of the second world conflict....

RECONSTRUCTION (from 1944 till 1947)

individual shelters for machine tools and metal worker's certain workbenches, to
protect them from bad weather, having made the essential clearings ......

maintained in its role of "director workshop" of the diesel-electric locomotives

the diesel park who becomes a pressing need for the SNCF......
