The role attributed from 1920 to the workshops of Quatre-Mares is mainly the repair of locomotives. 250 big repairs are planned there annually. These workshops also have to assure the repair of numerous parts of machines resulting from deposits and, in particular, from crews of wheels....

   

THE REPAIR OF STEAM ENGINES (from 1920 till 1938)

THE WAR PERIOD (from 1939 till 1944)

THE RECONSTRUCTION (from 1944 till 1947)

THE PEAK OF THE VAPOR (from 1948 till 1963)

THE CONVERSION IN the DIESEL (from 1964 till 1972)

It is in 1963 when is set up to Q.M. the " Service Diesel Conversion " asked to allow the establishment to realize the transition of the activity "Vapor" in the "Diesel" activity ......

At the dawn of the 21st century, "Quatre-Mares" is maintained in its role of "director workshop" of the diesel-electric locomotives of great power. (2000 to 3600 Cv) .....................  for making younger the diesel park who becomes a pressing need for the SNCF......
